EXHIBIT is pleased to introduce the first solo exhibition of the artist Alvar Mena.
Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Salamanca and imbued with a rich visual culture, Alvar Mena reuses the imagery of medieval bestiaries together with the current repertoires of tattoo studios or posters of teenage idols to create his own compositions, full of irony and biting. His works on paper and canvas use classical pictorial techniques alongside spray paint and stencil to constitute an attractive fictional heraldry whose slogans refer to the most amusing and seemingly inconsequential matters.
